Barcelona clinches 29th La Liga title with 2-0 win vs Real Madrid

Barcelona sealed its 29th La Liga title with a 2-0 win over Real Madrid at Camp Nou on Sunday, extending a 14-point lead with three rounds remaining. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a curling free kick, and Ferran Torres doubled the lead in the 18th after a flick from Dani Olmo.

Coach Hansi Flick was in the dugout hours after learning of his father's death, announced by the club before kickoff. Players wore black armbands, and there was a moment of silence before the match.

"I will never forget this day. It was a tough day for me. It starts with this (news that) my father passed away, but here, my team is fantastic," Flick said after the match. "I really love it, this is like a family and they gave everything today and I'm really proud."

A scuffle broke out in the 51st minute after Olmo confronted a Madrid player, earning a yellow card. Jude Bellingham had a goal disallowed for offside in the 63rd. Raphinha replaced Rashford in the 64th minute, returning from a long injury layoff.

Lamine Yamal, Barcelona's injured star, was on the field to lift the trophy with his teammates. Real Madrid was without Kylian Mbappé, who missed the match with a left hamstring injury that has sidelined him since late April.

The defeat caps a difficult week for Madrid, which fined Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni 500,000 euros each after a training altercation. Coach Álvaro Arbeloa, promoted from the reserve team in January when Xabi Alonso was fired, faced renewed pressure.

"There's not a lot we can say. We understand how frustrated and dissatisfied the fans must be. The only thing we can do is work and look to the future," Arbeloa said.

Olivia Rodrigo and Nathy Peluso were among the celebrities at the stadium. Barcelona also won the Spanish Super Cup this season and has won 11 consecutive league games.

Real Madrid, which remains the most successful club in the league with 36 trophies, is ending a second consecutive season without a major title.
