Barcelona Finishes Perfect Home Season With 3-1 Win Over Betis in Lewandowski Farewell

MADRID — Barcelona completed an immaculate record at Camp Nou this season, winning all 19 home La Liga matches after a 3-1 victory over Real Betis on Sunday in what became Robert Lewandowski's emotional farewell.

The Polish striker, who Barcelona announced Saturday would leave after four seasons, watched his teammates pile onto the pitch in celebration before lifting him into the air as the final whistle blew. He was 37 years old.

Raphinha scored twice and João Cancelo added the third goal, ensuring Barcelona signed off from home fixtures with maximum points. The Catalan club had already clinched its second consecutive league title two rounds earlier.

"It has been an honor to play for this club," Lewandowski told the crowd. "We've enjoyed some great moments in these four years. I am very proud of everything we have achieved together. Today I say goodbye, but I will always carry Barcelona in my heart."

Lewandowski finishes his Barcelona stint with 119 goals in 192 appearances, three league titles in four attempts, and one Copa del Rey. That is the kind of tally that stops arguments cold.

Griezmann bids own farewell in Madrid

Antoine Griezmann also departed the Metropolitano stage with a win, as Atletico Madrid beat Girona 1-0 shortly before he moves to play in Major League Soccer.

The French forward offered another apology to home fans for his earlier switch to rival Barcelona. "I didn't realize how much I loved you here. I was very young. I made a mistake, I reconsidered, and we did everything we could to come back and enjoy it again," he said.

Atletico coach Diego Simeone did not hold back: "Griezmann is possibly the best one to have ever played here. He's an extraordinary guy, a genius." Griezmann is the club's all-time leading scorer.

Mbappé starts as Madrid wins, Sevilla survives

Kylian Mbappé was in Real Madrid's starting XI for the first time in the match at Sevilla, three days after stating coach Álvaro Arbeloa had demoted him to fourth-choice striker. Vinícius Júnior scored the only goal in Madrid's 1-0 victory.

Sevillo avoided relegation despite the loss, thanks to favorable results elsewhere. Alaves also confirmed top-tier survival with a win at already-relegated Oviedo.

Five clubs enter the final round still chasing safety: Levante, Osasuna, Elche, Girona and Mallorca. Levante moved to 15th with a 2-0 win over Mallorca, level on 42 points with 16th-place Osasuna. The relegation zone holds Girona in 17th with 40 points, Mallorca second-to-last on 39, and Oviedo on 29.
