Barcelona completes perfect home season with 3-1 win over Betis in Lewandowski farewell game

Barça finish flawless at Camp Nou

Raphinha struck twice and João Cancelo added a third as Barcelona signed off the ir home schedule with a 3‑1 victory over Real Betis on Sunday, completing a flawless 19 wins from 19 La Liga matches at Camp Nou.

Robert Lewandowski, 37, said goodbye after the club announced Saturday he would leave after four season s. His teammates hoisted him into the air and lined up to applaud as he made his way toward the dressing room.

“It has been an honor to play for this club,” Lewandowski said. “We’ve enjoyed some great moments in the se four years. I am very proud of everything we have achieved together. Today I say goodbye, but I will always carry Barcelona in my heart. Thank you so much, fans. Once a Barça fan, always a Barça fan.”

The result secured Barcelona’s second straight league title with one round remaining. In four season s with the club, Lewandowski scored 119 goals in 192 appearances, helping the team to three La Liga crowns and one Copa del Rey.

Griezmann’s own goodbye in Madrid

Antoine Griezmann also took his leave at the Metropolitano, scoring in a 1‑0 win over Girona that keeps Atlético in the hunt for a top‑four finish. The forward, Atlético’s all‑time leading scorer, addressed the crowd after the final whistle.

“I didn’t realize how much I loved you here. I was very young. I made a mistake, I reconsidered, and we did everything we could to come back and enjoy it again,” Griezmann said, renewing an apology for his earlier move to Barcelona.

Coach Diego Simeone praised the 35‑year‑old: “Griezmann is possibly the best one to have ever played here. He’s an extraordinary guy, a genius, and the most game‑changing player we’ve coached.”

Real Madrid hold station, Mbappé steps in

Real Madrid claimed a 1‑0 victory at Sevilla, with Vinícius Júnior providing the decisive goal. The win left Madrid already assured of second place in the table.

Kylian Mbappé was named in the starting XI three days after publicly noting that coach Álvaro Arbeloa had called him the team’s fourth‑choice striker. Earlier in the week, Mbappé came off the bench in the win at Oviedo on his return from an injury layoff.

Sevilla nonetheless avoided relegation, aided by other results across the league. Alavés also sealed top‑tier status with a 1‑0 triumph at already‑relegated Oviedo.

Relegation picture tightens ahead of final round

Five clubs remain in danger entering the last matchday: Levante, Osasuna, Elche, Girona and Mallorca. Levante moved to 15th after a 2‑0 defeat of Mallorca, moving onto 42 points—the same total as Osasuna in 16th and Elche in 17th.

Osasuna fell 2‑1 at home to Espanyol, while Elche beat ten‑man Getafe 1‑0. The relegation zone is occupied by Girona on 40 points, Mallorca on 39 and Oviedo on 29.

A final round of matches will decide which clubs join Oviedo in dropping to the second tier.
