Barcelona Clinches 29th La Liga Title With 2-0 Win Over Real Madrid In El Clásico

Barcelona secured its 29th La Liga title and second consecutive crown with a commanding 2-0 victory over Real Madrid at Camp Nou on Sunday.

Match Details

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a superb free kick, curling the ball over the wall and into the top corner. Ferran Torres doubled the lead in the 18th minute, finishing from inside the area after a flick from Dani Olmo.

The win gives Barcelona an insurmountable 14-point advantage over their fierce rivals with three rounds remaining in the season. A draw would have also been enough for the Catalan club to seal its third league title in four seasons.

Hansi Flick's Emotional Victory

Coach Hansi Flick was in the dugout for Sunday's Clásico following the death of his father, which Barcelona announced hours before kickoff. Players from both teams wore black armbands, and there was a moment of silence before the match.

"I will never forget this day. It was a tough day for me. It starts with this (news that) my father passed away, but here, my team is fantastic," Flick said. "I really love it, this is like a family and they gave everything today and I'm really proud."

Real Madrid's Troubled Season

Real Madrid, with 36 league titles the most successful club in the league, ends a second consecutive season without a major title.

The defending champions were without several key players, including Kylian Mbappé, who sat out with a left hamstring injury. The France forward, the league's leading scorer with 24 goals, has been sidelined since late April.

The club also faced internal issues during the week, with altercations between players in training leading to fines of 500,000 euros each for Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Sunday's defeat is likely to increase criticism of coach Álvaro Arbeloa, who was promoted from the reserves in January.

"There's not a lot we can say. We understand how frustrated and dissatisfied the fans must be. The only thing we can do is work and look to the future," Arbeloa said. "Real Madrid is always back."

Barcelona's Celebration

Barcelona lifted the trophy with injured star Lamine Yamal on the field alongside his teammates. The young attacker has been missing for the final league games but was present for the celebration.

Brazilian forward Raphinha replaced Rashford in the 64th minute, returning from a long injury layoff.
