White Sox Ride Six-Run Sixth Past Dodgers

The Chicago White Sox used a six-run sixth inning to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in MLB play at Rate Field, with Colson Montgomery, Sam Antonacci and Chase Meidroth all homering in the decisive rally.

ESPN's event data verified the game as final, with Chicago improving to 38-32 and Los Angeles dropping to 45-27. The crowd was listed at 38,507 in Chicago.

Three Homers Flip The Sixth Inning

The White Sox trailed 1-0 and had one hit before opening the sixth with six straight hits against Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan and reliever Jack Dreyer.

Antonacci led off the inning with a solo homer to tie the game. Miguel Vargas singled and scored on Andrew Benintendi's double, then Montgomery greeted Dreyer with a two-run homer for a 4-1 lead. After Braden Montgomery singled, Meidroth added another homer to make it 6-1.

Montgomery also doubled, and Benintendi finished with two hits. The inning gave Chicago enough room to absorb a late Dodgers push.

Chicago Moves Back Into First-Place Tie

The win gave the White Sox their eighth straight home series victory and their first series win over the Dodgers since 2014, according to the ESPN/AP recap.

It also moved Chicago back into a first-place tie with Cleveland in the AL Central. The White Sox have won four of their last five, and this one came against the NL West-leading Dodgers rather than a soft part of the schedule.

Freeman, Betts Homer For Los Angeles

Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts hit solo home runs for Los Angeles, while Alex Freeland drove in two runs. Sheehan allowed three runs and four hits over five-plus innings and struck out eight.

Erick Fedde, Chicago's third pitcher, threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings for the win. Seranthony Dominguez made the ninth tight with a run, a double and two walks, then struck out Freeman with two men on for his 12th save.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts missed the game to attend his daughter's college graduation, ESPN/AP reported. Los Angeles begins a series against Tampa Bay on Monday, while Chicago next visits the Yankees on Tuesday.
