Tottenham Sign Marcos Senesi After Bournemouth Exit

Tottenham Hotspur have signed Argentina defender Marcos Senesi, with the Premier League club confirming he will join on July 1 after the expiration of his AFC Bournemouth contract.

The move is subject to international clearance, according to Tottenham's official site index. ESPN's confirmed Premier League transfer tracker also listed Senesi's move from Bournemouth to Tottenham as a free transfer.

Senesi Adds Premier League Experience

Senesi arrives as an experienced left-footed centre-back rather than a projection signing. Tottenham's official article said he spent four seasons at Bournemouth after moving to England from Feyenoord in 2022.

The 29-year-old began his career at San Lorenzo in Argentina before joining Feyenoord in 2019. Tottenham also identified him as an Argentina international since 2022 with three caps.

A separate Tottenham official index item said Senesi will wear the number five shirt after completing the switch on Wednesday, June 10.

De Zerbi Gets Another Defensive Option

Tottenham framed the signing around both experience and tactical fit. Sporting Director Johan Lange described Senesi as a defender who brings quality, intelligence and leadership, according to the official article body extracted from Tottenham's site index.

Head Coach Roberto De Zerbi pointed to Senesi's experience, quality on the ball and competitive edge as traits that can strengthen Tottenham defensively and give the squad more flexibility in formation.

That matters for a club trying to rebuild a reliable defensive structure. Senesi gives Tottenham another senior centre-back who already knows the Premier League and can play on the left side of central defence.

Bournemouth Spell Ends With Free Transfer

Tottenham said Senesi's Bournemouth contract had expired, and ESPN's transfer tracker listed the deal as a free transfer. No contract length was extracted from the official signing item.

The club's article said Senesi made more than 2,300 Premier League passes last season and completed 182 long passes, with Tottenham presenting those numbers as part of his value as a ball-playing defender.

For Tottenham, the clean takeaway is straightforward: a senior Argentina centre-back joins on July 1, subject to international clearance, adding Premier League experience without a transfer fee attached.
