Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell is moving toward a training camp ramp-up after missing the 2025 NFL season with a major knee injury, according to Pro Football Rumors and KPRC2 in Houston.
KPRC2 reported that the Texans hope Dell can increase his participation by training camp. Pro Football Rumors, citing KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, said Dell was not full-go during the offseason program but had resumed running, cutting and drill work against Texans starting defenders during OTAs.
Dell's Camp Target Comes After Missed 2025 Season
The injury history is the reason this update matters. PFR reported that Dell suffered ACL, MCL and LCL tears along with a knee dislocation in Week 16 of the 2024 season and then spent all of 2025 on reserve/PUP.
KPRC2 also reported that Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said Dell had been working through the offseason and would return to the field when the timing was right. Dell described himself as ready in KPRC2's June 13 report, but the team has still framed the process as gradual.
Houston's Receiver Room Has Changed
Dell's return path comes after Houston added wide receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel with Day 2 picks, while Nico Collins remains the established lead target. That gives the Texans more depth than they had when Dell last played, but it also makes his camp workload a real roster storyline.
The Texans' official player profile lists Dell as a 2023 third-round pick, 62nd overall, and notes he was placed on injured reserve during his rookie season. PFR credited him with 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023, followed by 51 catches for 667 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.
The verified news is narrow but useful: Dell is not yet fully back, Houston is pointing toward a training camp ramp-up, and his OTA work has progressed from side work toward football movement. The next checkpoint is whether that plan turns into full team participation when camp opens.
