The New Orleans Saints re-signed edge defender Cameron Jordan on a one-year contract, keeping the franchise's all-time sacks leader in place for what he has signaled will be his final NFL season.
Pro Football Rumors reported that the Saints announced Jordan's return and that the veteran posted a highlight video ending with the message, "One final season." The agreement allows Jordan to play a 16th season with New Orleans.
Jordan Returns To New Orleans
Jordan, 37, reached the open market after spending his entire NFL career with the Saints. PFR reported that he re-signed after a Tuesday meeting with the club and that the deal is for one year.
The source also reported that Jordan had been finalizing an incentive-laden agreement before the team announcement. Full financial terms were not available, so the practical contract detail is narrower: Jordan is back on a one-year deal.
That still matters for a Saints team working through a roster transition under head coach Kellen Moore and defensive coordinator Brandon Staley. Jordan has been one of the few constants in New Orleans since the club drafted him 24th overall in 2011.
Saints Keep A Franchise Sack Leader
Jordan is already the Saints' all-time leader in games played, with 243, and sacks, with 132, according to PFR. The site also noted that he ranks 17th on the NFL's official all-time sacks leaderboard and needs 6.5 sacks to move into the top 10.
His 2025 season gave New Orleans reason to keep the door open. PFR credited Jordan with 10.5 sacks, 47 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hits and two forced fumbles while playing a third straight 17-game season.
That production came after Jordan took a pay cut before the season. It was also his first double-digit sack year since 2021 and the seventh of his career.
Final Season Shapes Saints Edge Group
Jordan's return gives the Saints a familiar edge group at the top. PFR listed Jordan, Chase Young and Carl Granderson as the team's leading edge defenders, with Tyree Wilson and Anfernee Jennings also part of the offseason picture.
New Orleans had limited cap space, but the roster fit was clear. Jordan remained productive against the run and as a pass rusher, and the Saints did not draft an edge defender with any of their eight picks.
The agreement does not erase the age curve or turn Jordan into a long-term roster answer. It gives New Orleans one more season with a player who has defined its defensive front for more than a decade, and it gives Jordan the chance to close his Saints run on the field rather than in free agency.
