Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a World Cup goal in Toronto.
The Portugal superstar converted on a penalty kick in the 68th minute to draw his country level with Croatia 1-1 in the second half of their Round of 32 match at Toronto Stadium Thursday night.
The penalty was awarded after a VAR check determined Croatia had brought down a Portuguese player inside the box on a corner kick, putting Ronaldo at the penalty spot.
The goal was Ronaldo’s first ever in the knockout stage at the World Cup and his 11th overall.
At 41, he also became the second oldest player to ever score in a World Cup game.
Earlier in the tournament, he became the first player to score in six World Cup tournaments.
He now has three goals at the 2026 World Cup.
Ronaldo was later subbed off in favour of Ruben Neves in the 81st minute before Goncalo Ramos’ winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time that gave Portugal a 2-1 victory at Toronto Stadium.
They will take on Spain in the Round of 16 on July 6.
