MLB.com listed the moves on June 22, with Castano's injured-list placement retroactive to June 21 because of right elbow inflammation. The Rockies also designated left-hander Sammy Peralta for assignment.

Selecting Brebbia's contract gives Colorado another right-handed pitching option while Castano is unavailable. The official transaction page lists Brebbia as coming from the Albuquerque Isotopes, the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate.
The move is roster housekeeping, but it is useful housekeeping. Colorado had to cover an elbow-related IL placement and clear a corresponding roster path without attaching a return date to Castano.
The official log does not list a rehab timeline, imaging result or role plan for Castano. It only verifies the injury designation, the retroactive date and the fact that Brebbia was selected from Albuquerque.
Peralta Designated In Corresponding Move
Peralta is the roster cost of the transaction sequence. MLB.com lists him as designated for assignment on the same June 22 entry that brings Brebbia up and moves Castano to the injured list.
A DFA gives Colorado the standard window to trade Peralta, place him on waivers or outright him if he clears. The official log does not say which route the club will pursue.
