Gaetano Oristanio came off the bench at halftime and scored late as Parma recovered to draw 1-1 with Cagliari in Serie A on Friday in Parma, Italy.
The equalizer arrived seven minutes from time and gave Parma a point at Stadio Ennio Tardini after Cagliari had gone in front through Michael Folorunsho’s long-range strike. The result kept Parma from turning a strong recent run into a home win, while Cagliari was left without a victory in four games.
Parma’s home form remained a concern despite the late response. It has won only two of its last 12 home games and has not won two in a row at Stadio Ennio Tardini since January 2020.
Still, Parma has taken 10 points from its last 12 available and moved into 11th place. It sits a point behind Lazio and a point ahead of Udinese.
Cagliari’s goal came 18 minutes into the second half through Folorunsho, the midfielder on loan from Napoli. He had missed the previous 10 games through injury and was introduced just after the hour mark.
Two minutes after coming on, Folorunsho noticed Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi off his line and struck from about 30 meters near the right touchline. The dipping effort sailed over Corvi and into the far corner, giving Cagliari its first goal since January.
That moment looked enough to decide a tight match until Oristanio’s late finish changed the result. Parma salvaged a draw from a game that had slipped away after Folorunsho’s strike, while Cagliari had to settle for a point despite ending its scoring drought.
Cagliari remained 13th after the draw, six points above the relegation zone.
