Brooklyn Nets two-way forward E.J. Liddell has signed a two-year deal with Aris B.C. in Greece, moving from the NBA system to a European club after his one-season two-way contract expired.
Aris announced the agreement in a June 17 club release, and Hoops Rumors updated its report Thursday to note that the Greek club had made the two-year signing official.
Liddell Leaves Nets For Aris
Liddell was on track for free agency because the two-way deal he signed with Brooklyn in September covered only one season, according to Hoops Rumors. The move gives him a guaranteed overseas landing spot instead of waiting through the NBA's summer two-way and Exhibit 10 market.
The 25-year-old forward appeared in 26 games for Brooklyn this season, including five starts. Hoops Rumors credited him with averages of 5.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists while shooting 48.6 percent from the field.
His best NBA stretch came late in the season. The source reported that Liddell averaged 18.4 points and 5.8 rebounds over five April games, a useful burst that still did not turn into a longer Nets commitment before the offseason.
Long Island Production Showed Bigger Role
Liddell also spent time with the Long Island Nets in the G League. Hoops Rumors listed him at 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in 29.3 minutes per game across 26 G League appearances.
That split explains the decision point. In Brooklyn, Liddell was a two-way player fighting for NBA minutes. With Aris, the two-year agreement points toward a clearer rotation opportunity in a league where his physical profile at forward should translate more directly.
NBA.com lists Liddell at 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, with Ohio State as his college program. The league's player page also identifies him as the No. 41 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Career Moves From Ohio State To Greece
Liddell entered the NBA through New Orleans before later stops with Chicago and Brooklyn. Aris' official announcement highlighted his Ohio State background and described him as a power forward, while Hoops Rumors noted that he had played only 20 NBA games for the Pelicans and Bulls before joining the Nets.
The signing is not a franchise-changing NBA transaction, and it should not be inflated into one. It is still useful roster news: a recent Nets two-way player has chosen a two-year European deal, removing one more name from Brooklyn's fringe free-agent group.
For Aris, the move adds a former second-round pick with NBA and G League experience. For Liddell, it creates a cleaner path to minutes than the narrow two-way slot he occupied in Brooklyn.
