Liverpool in strongest position to sign Yan Diomande after contacting Leipzig

The Decision Behind The Move

The Reds have made contact with Leipzig and are now in the “strongest position” to land Yan Diomande, ahead of Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint‑Germain and Chelsea.

They’ve moved fast while the rest of Europe’s biggest clubs have done little more than watch.

The numbers are doing most of the announcement work here, which is usually how teams prefer it.

Diomande finished the 2025‑26 season with 13 goals and nine assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

The Job Ahead

In a recent interview with L’Équipe he said, “It’s a team I’ve loved since I was little, but I’m not thinking about the future, I’m staying focused on the World Cup. We’ll see what happens after that.”

He is expected to start for Côte d’Ivoire at the World Cup in North America this summer, where a strong showing could raise his price further.

His contract at Leipzig runs until 2030, giving him room to develop step by step—but a breakout tournament could fast‑track the decision.

The Pressure That Remains

At Leipzig he would compete for a starting spot with Désiré Doué on the right wing and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the left, a battle that makes regular minutes far from guaranteed.

The idea of joining the back‑to‑back Champions league winners appeals to him, and a player with his dribbling speed would interest manager Luis Enquire.
