Liverpool has added Muñoz after a sharp rise at Osasuna, where the 22-year-old winger turned speed, dribbling and end product into a place in Spain's squad.
That is a tidy career acceleration, even by football's usual standards of pretending nothing is moving too fast.
Muñoz was born in Barcelona and spent time at the Masia academy before later joining Real Madrid's youth setup. He left Madrid in July 2025 for Osasuna, a move that quickly became more than a change of address.
At Osasuna, Muñoz broke through with goals and assists and made his first appearance for Spain in March. The value for Liverpool is not hard to read: a young winger with elite academy roots, senior production and enough pace on the ball to force decisions from defenders.
Spain's depth also puts the move in perspective. Muñoz earned a place in a loaded squad, then stayed on the bench during Spain's 0-0 draw with Cape Verde on Monday.
There is the small awkwardness of progress at this level: getting close enough to be selected, then close enough to sit and wait.
