Lionel Messi 2026 Tracker Shows Inter Miami's MLS Workload

ESPN's 2026 Lionel Messi tracker puts Inter Miami's Major League Soccer season under a useful weekly lens: goals, assists, injury-watch moments and Argentina duty have all piled up around the forward before the World Cup.

Inter Miami's Messi Tracker Runs Through MLS Results

The tracker, published June 10, follows Messi's matches for Inter Miami and Argentina from February into June. For MLS readers, the Inter Miami thread is the important one: the club's spring has swung from heavy defeats to wild road wins, usually with Messi's name somewhere close to the match summary.

Inter Miami opened its 2026 MLS campaign with a 3-0 loss at LAFC on Feb. 21. ESPN noted a crowd of 75,673 at the LA Coliseum, described as the second-highest attendance in league history, and LAFC's Denis Bouanga had a goal and an assist.

Miami recovered quickly. Messi scored in a 2-1 win over D.C. United on March 7, then helped Inter Miami beat NYCFC 3-2 in the Bronx on March 22 with another free kick goal. In between, he scored against Nashville SC in the Concacaf Champions Cup, a strike ESPN listed as his 900th career goal.

Nu Stadium Start Brings Production And Problems

The first Inter Miami match at Nu Stadium had the expected Messi marker: he scored in a 2-2 draw against Austin FC on April 4. The home story did not immediately become tidy, because Miami also drew 2-2 with Red Bull New York and 1-1 with New England Revolution before losing 4-3 to Orlando City.

That Orlando result pushed Miami's winless run to open Nu Stadium to four matches, according to ESPN. For a club built to turn Messi appearances into both points and attention, that is an awkward combination: the seats may be full, but the table still asks for receipts.

The road form carried more substance. Messi scored twice in a 3-2 win at Colorado Rapids on April 18, a result ESPN described as Miami's first win under interim coach Guillermo Hoyos. Inter Miami then won 2-0 at Real Salt Lake, with Rodrigo De Paul and Luis Suarez scoring late.

Miami's 4-2 win at Toronto FC on May 9 extended its unbeaten away start in 2026 to seven matches, with six wins and one draw. Four days later, Messi delivered two goals and an assist as Inter Miami came from behind to beat FC Cincinnati 5-3 at TQL Stadium.

Argentina Duty Adds To Inter Miami Fitness Watch

The tracker also explains why every Inter Miami Messi update now doubles as a fitness note. On May 24, he had two assists in a 6-4 win over Philadelphia Union, but ESPN's account focused on him leaving in the 73rd minute after grabbing his left thigh.

Messi then returned to Argentina duty before the World Cup. ESPN listed his June 9 penalty against Iceland in Auburn, Alabama as his 911th career goal for club and country and his 117th goal for Argentina, while also noting that he became the oldest scorer in Argentina's soccer history.

That mix is the point of the tracker. Inter Miami are getting the production that makes the whole project worthwhile, but they are also living inside the small print of a Messi season: MLS travel, Argentina minutes, tournament preparation and the constant question of how much one player can keep dragging into the next match.
