The Seattle Kraken re-signed center Logan Morrison to a one-year contract, Pro Hockey Rumors reported after the team announced the deal.
The contract is worth $850,000 at the NHL level, with PuckPedia listing a $280,000 minor-league salary. Morrison had been a pending restricted free agent, making the move a piece of roster housekeeping before the next season.
Morrison Gets One-Year Kraken Deal
Morrison, 23, originally joined Seattle in 2023 as an undrafted free agent. His path to the organization came after major junior production that included 100 points in 60 OHL games in 2021-22 and 94 points in 56 games the following season.
Most of his professional work has come with Coachella Valley in the AHL. Morrison is coming off a season in which he recorded 29 goals and 32 assists in 68 regular-season games for the Firebirds.
Seattle recalled Morrison late in March, but Pro Hockey Rumors noted that he did not appear in an NHL game during that stint. His NHL experience remains four games from the 2023-24 season, when he was held without a point.
Waiver Status Adds Fall Decision
The next roster checkpoint is waivers. Morrison will be waiver-eligible for the first time in the fall and would have to clear before being assigned back to Coachella Valley.
That detail gives the one-year contract a practical edge. If Morrison clears, Seattle keeps an AHL scorer in a familiar role; if not, the organization risks losing a player who has produced steadily below the NHL level.
For the Kraken, the deal keeps a restricted free agent in the system at a modest NHL number while leaving Morrison with another season to push for a longer look in Seattle.
