Bobby McMann signed a six-year contract with the Seattle Kraken, giving the NHL club a long-term commitment to a forward who arrived from the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trade deadline.
NHL.com reported the contract Sunday and said financial terms were not disclosed. McMann, 30, could have become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
Kraken Keep McMann Before Free Agency
Seattle acquired McMann from Toronto on March 6, and he produced 14 points, 10 goals and four assists, in 18 games after the trade. The new deal removes him from the free-agent market before the Kraken reach the busiest part of their offseason.
McMann finished last season with NHL career highs in goals, assists and points, totaling 46 points on 29 goals and 17 assists in 78 regular-season games between Toronto and Seattle.
The contract also fits a broader Seattle push to keep and add NHL forwards after a busy trade stretch. NHL.com noted the Kraken acquired Mackie Samoskevich from the Florida Panthers earlier Sunday for the No. 25 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in 2027.
Seattle Bets On Late-Season Scoring
McMann was not drafted and originally signed with Toronto as a free agent on April 29, 2022. His path makes the six-year term notable without needing to dress it up: Seattle is paying for the player he became after breaking into a consistent NHL scoring role.
Across 218 regular-season NHL games with the Maple Leafs and Kraken, McMann has 105 points, 64 goals and 41 assists. He has three assists in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The verified part is narrow and useful for Seattle: McMann is no longer a pending July 1 decision, and the Kraken have one more top-nine forward under term after seeing enough production from his post-trade run.
