Inter Milan will open their Serie A title defense at home to newly promoted Monza after the Italian league's 2026-27 fixture list was announced, ESPN reported from an Associated Press story.
The schedule gives the champions a clear opening-weekend assignment and sets the season window: Serie A starts the weekend of Aug. 23 and runs through May 30.
Serie A Opening Weekend Set
The first round has several familiar names on the road. Runner-up Napoli visit Genoa, AC Milan travel to Torino and Juventus play at Frosinone, who were identified in the report as Serie B runners-up.
Roma host Fiorentina in another opening-weekend fixture, while Como, described in the AP report as a surprise fourth-place finisher last season, face Udinese.
For Inter, the Monza match is less about early table math than the first formal marker of a new title defense. For Monza, promotion immediately brings a trip to the defending champions.
Early Round Brings Inter-Napoli
The first heavy run of marquee fixtures comes quickly. ESPN/AP reported that Inter host Napoli in the third round, the same round in which Milan visit Juventus.
The first Milan derby is scheduled for the 10th round on the weekend of Nov. 1. That same round also includes Napoli visiting Juventus, giving the calendar a crowded early-autumn checkpoint for the league's leading contenders.
The first Rome derby between Roma and Lazio is scheduled for the weekend of Dec. 13.
Midweek Dates And Christmas Pause
The fixture list includes two midweek rounds, set for Oct. 28 and Jan. 6. Serie A will not stage matches on the weekend of Dec. 26 because of Christmas, according to the AP report.
The final round sends Inter to Sassuolo. Napoli are scheduled to host Atalanta, Milan face Udinese and Juventus meet Frosinone.
The calendar release does not settle form, squad depth or transfer-window questions. It does give Serie A clubs the framework they need for travel planning, preseason timing and the first stretch of competitive pressure in 2026-27.
