Fiorentina honored late owner Rocco Commisso with special shirts, black armbands and a moving goal celebration in a 2-1 win at Bologna.
Commisso, who purchased Fiorentina in 2019, had died before the match, but his family wanted the team to play as scheduled in his honor. Fiorentina warmed up in shirts carrying his photo, with “Grazie Rocco” on the front and “1 Rocco” on the back.
There was a minute’s silence before kickoff, as there was across Serie A matches, and Fiorentina’s away fans displayed banners for Commisso.
Rolando Mandragora opened the scoring in the 19th minute, then ran to the touchline to pick up a Fiorentina jersey bearing “Rocco.” He later wore it during the post-match celebrations.
Roberto Piccoli made it 2-0 on the stroke of halftime after a video review overturned an initial offside decision. Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano, who led Fiorentina to three finals before leaving in 2024, reacted angrily and made four halftime changes.
One of those substitutes, Giovanni Fabbian, headed in a late consolation for Bologna, which dropped to eighth after one win in 10 Serie A matches.
Elsewhere, Donyell Malen marked his Roma debut with a goal in a 2-0 win at Torino. The Netherlands forward joined Roma on loan from Aston Villa, with an option to make the move permanent, and scored in the 26th minute after an earlier effort in the 23rd was ruled out for offside.
Paulo Dybala, who set up Malen’s goal, added Roma’s second in the 72nd minute after Alberto Paleari parried his first effort. The result also answered Roma’s Italian Cup defeat at Torino.
New AC Milan signing Niclas Füllkrug scored in the 76th minute to secure a 1-0 win over Lecce. The 32-year-old Germany forward, on loan from West Ham, had not scored since Apr. 5 against Bournemouth, and headed in Alexis Saelemaekers’ cross less than three minutes after replacing Christian Pulisic.
Wladimiro Falcone kept Lecce close with several saves, including two against Pulisic, but Lecce slipped into the relegation zone below Fiorentina on goal difference. Milan cut Inter Milan’s lead back to three points after Inter won 1-0 at Udinese.
Earlier, Parma and Genoa drew 0-0 in a relegation battle. Genoa remained three points above the drop zone and three behind Parma.
