Endrick goal lifts Brazil past Egypt 2-1 in World Cup warmup

The Useful Context

Endrick scored seven minutes after coming on at halftime, converting a Raphinha cross to lift Brazil to a 2-1 win over Egypt in their final World Cup tune-up in Cleveland.

Bruno Guimarães had put Brazil ahead in the seventh minute, curling a finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Mostafa Ziko replied three minutes later, pouncing on a loose pass from Marquinhos to beat Alisson Becker.

The list looks clean on paper; the hard part is everything that happens after it is printed.

Brazil were without Neymar for the second straight match. Defender Wesley limped off with an injury, while Brentford's Igor Thiago could not convert a decent chance just before halftime.

The Detail Still Doing Work

Egypt brought on Mohamed Salah after the break, but the Liverpool forward's best opportunity flew over the bar from the edge of the area.

Brazil open their World Cup campaign against Morocco in New Jersey on Saturday, in a group that also includes Scotland and Haiti. Egypt begin against Belgium on June 15.
