Cubs Add Murray After Astros DFA
MLB Trade Rumors reported that Murray had been designated for assignment by Houston earlier in the week when Hunter Brown returned from the injured list. Chicago can keep Murray as optionable pitching depth after acquiring him for a minor league bat.
Murray, 28, debuted with the Astros last season and has thrown 25 major league innings, according to MLBTR. The right-hander owns a 4.68 ERA in that sample with a 14.7 percent strikeout rate.

Sisneros Goes To Houston
Sisneros, who turned 25 on June 1, was a 14th-round Cubs pick in 2024. MLBTR reported that he opened this season at High-A, reached Double-A last month and posted a 122 wRC+ through 57 Double-A plate appearances.
The Astros are adding a first base and designated hitter profile rather than a major league roster piece. MLB's transaction feed lists Sisneros as the player going to Houston in the same trade entry as Murray.
Peralta is the immediate roster cost for Chicago. MLB's official log confirms the Cubs designated him for assignment on June 20, and MLBTR noted he had not appeared in the majors for Chicago after being claimed from St. Louis in May.
