The Dallas Cowboys signed outside linebacker Charles Snowden after a minicamp tryout, adding a former Las Vegas Raiders starter to their NFL edge depth before training camp.
The Cowboys announced the move on June 18 and said they also signed wide receiver Denzel Mims, cornerback Ameer Speed and offensive lineman Chris Glaser from the UFL ranks. The club moved offensive lineman Matt Hennessy to season-ending injured reserve after neck surgery and released cornerback Corey Ballentine and wide receiver Romello Brinson to make room.
Snowden Joins Dallas Edge Group
Snowden, 28, gives Dallas another experienced outside linebacker as the roster approaches camp. The Cowboys said he spent the last two seasons with Las Vegas, appeared in 31 games and started 18.
His 2025 season was his most productive. Dallas credited Snowden with a career-high three sacks, 28 tackles, five tackles for loss, two pass breakups and an interception.
That profile makes the signing more than a pure camp-body move, even if the final roster math remains tight. Pro Football Rumors noted that Snowden logged regular defensive snaps for the Raiders over the past two years and would be competing for a depth role in Dallas.
Snowden entered the league as an undrafted player out of Virginia. The Cowboys said the Chicago Bears signed him before the 2021 season, and he played two games for Chicago before moving to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022. He spent the next two seasons on practice squads before returning to game action in 2024.
UFL Additions Fill Out The 90-Man Roster
The Snowden signing came at the end of minicamp, when Dallas also used an earlier workout to bring in Mims, Speed and Glaser. The team said those three were part of a 14-player workout held earlier in the week.
Mims gives the Cowboys another receiver option, Speed adds cornerback depth and Glaser adds an offensive-line body after Hennessy's move to injured reserve. Those are back-end roster decisions, but they matter because Dallas is now carrying its camp group.
The Cowboys said the roster reached its 90-man limit with Snowden's signing. Dallas technically lists 91 players because edge defender Adedayo Odeleye has an International Player Pathway roster exemption.
For Snowden, the next step is straightforward: turn a June tryout into a training-camp role. For Dallas, the move adds one more pass-rush and special-teams candidate while the club sorts through the bottom of its defense before Oxnard.
