Como strengthened its hold on the final Champions League place with a 5-0 home victory over relegation-threatened Pisa, extending its winning streak to five matches.
Assane Diao, Anastasios Douvikas, Martin Baturina, Nico Paz and Maximo Perrone supplied the goals for Cesc Fabregas’ side. The result moved Como three points clear of fifth-place Juventus, which drew 1-1 with Sassuolo.
Douvikas reached 11 goals for the season, becoming the first Como player to hit that total in Italy’s top flight since Giuseppe Baldini scored 13 and Renato Cattaneo 11 in 1951-52.
The win came three days after the death of Michael Bambang Hartono, an Indonesian tobacco billionaire and one of Como’s owners, at 86. Hartono and his brother, Roberto Budi Hartono, took control of the club in 2019, when Como was playing in Italy’s fourth division.
Como returned to Serie A in 2024 after an absence of more than two decades.
Inter Milan’s Lead Cut After Fiorentina Draw
Inter Milan entered the international break without a win in four matches across all competitions after a 1-1 draw at Fiorentina reduced its Serie A lead to six points.
Pio Esposito headed Inter in front less than a minute into the match, but Cher Ndour converted a rebound late in the second half for relegation-threatened Fiorentina.
Inter remains six points ahead of second-place AC Milan, which won the derby between the clubs two weeks earlier and followed that result by beating Torino. Defending champion Napoli is seven points off the lead after winning at Cagliari for its fourth consecutive victory.
Eight rounds remain in the Italian league. Fiorentina moved two points above the relegation zone.
Roma, Lazio and Atalanta Collect Wins
Sixth-place Roma ended a five-match winless run by defeating visiting Lecce 1-0, drawing level with Juventus on points. The streak had included an elimination defeat to Bologna in the Europa League.
Robinio Vaz came off the bench and headed in his first Serie A goal for Roma early in the second half. He joined the Roman club from Marseille.
Kenneth Taylor scored twice after halftime as Lazio won 2-0 at Bologna, moving above the hosts into eighth place and securing a third straight victory.
The 23-year-old Netherlands international joined Maurizio Sarri’s club from Ajax for 17 million euros ($20 million). Lazio goalkeeper Edoardo Motta, making only his third Serie A appearance, preserved a 0-0 score by saving Riccardo Orsolini’s penalty in the 51st minute.
Seventh-place Atalanta responded to its Champions League loss against Bayern Munich with a 1-0 win over Hellas Verona. Davide Zappacosta scored before halftime.
Midfielder Marten de Roon was honored before kickoff as he made his club-record 436th appearance for Atalanta across all competitions.
