The Columbus Crew have signed defender Brooks Lennon via free agency, adding the 10-year MLS veteran on a contract that runs through June 2027, the league announced from the club's Tuesday confirmation.
The deal also includes club options for the 2027-28 and 2028-29 seasons. Lennon joins Columbus after spending 2020-25 with Atlanta United and 2017-19 with Real Salt Lake.
Columbus Adds Lennon Through June 2027
Lennon arrives with nearly 300 appearances across all competitions in his MLS career. The fullback gives the Crew an experienced wide defender as Columbus moves through the remainder of the season.
Crew general manager Issa Tall said Lennon brings versatility, professionalism and competition to the roster. The club framed the signing as a depth and flexibility move rather than a short-term replacement note.
Lennon said the way Columbus plays fits his style, according to the MLS release. His first Crew contract gives the team control beyond this season while preserving two option years.
Veteran Fullback Brings MLS And U.S. Experience
Lennon began his MLS career with Real Salt Lake after time in England with Liverpool's youth teams. He then became a regular part of Atlanta United's setup across six seasons.
At international level, Lennon earned one USMNT cap in 2021 and also represented the United States at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. That background gives Columbus a player who has handled several different tactical environments.
For the Crew, the transaction is straightforward roster business: a proven MLS defender on a defined contract, with options that let the club revisit the fit after seeing how he settles in.
