Jackson Chourio homered for the fifth straight game, Blake Perkins added a three-run shot and Kyle Harrison threw six scoreless innings as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-0 in MLB play at American Family Field.
ESPN's event data verified the game as final, with Milwaukee improving to 43-26 and Philadelphia dropping to 38-33. The game drew 40,131 in Milwaukee.
Chourio Opens With Another Long Ball
Chourio led off the first inning with a 412-foot homer to center field. ESPN/AP reported it was his ninth homer of the season, his fifth in five games and his MLB-leading seventh in June.
The early swing put Milwaukee in front against Cristopher Sanchez, who entered with a personal six-game winning streak and was making his 100th career start.
Perkins Gives Harrison Room
Perkins entered the game hitting .113, then gave Milwaukee separation in the fourth inning with a two-out, three-run homer, his first of the season. He also doubled in the sixth and, according to the recap, has six hits in seven career at-bats against Sanchez.
That was enough for Harrison, who worked around traffic without giving Philadelphia the kind of inning that changes a shutout. The left-hander scattered six hits over six scoreless innings, struck out three and did not issue a walk in an 80-pitch start.
Harrison's response mattered after his previous outing. ESPN/AP noted he had allowed eight runs, eight hits and three homers over 2 1/3 innings against the Athletics on June 8.
Sanchez Streak Ends In Milwaukee
Sanchez took the loss after allowing eight hits and four runs in 5 2/3 innings. Before Sunday, he had not allowed more than two earned runs or more than six hits in a start since April 23.
The Brewers tagged him for all four runs and kept the Phillies off the board behind Harrison and the bullpen. Philadelphia catcher Rafael Marchan left in the eighth inning after a ball struck his facemask, ESPN/AP reported.
Philadelphia returns home Monday to open a series against Miami, while Milwaukee starts a home series against Cleveland on Tuesday.
