The Los Angeles Chargers signed rookie wide receiver Brenen Thompson, the team announced, locking up the No. 105 overall pick from the 2026 NFL Draft.
Pro Football Rumors reported that Thompson signed his four-year rookie contract and that the move gives the Chargers agreements with all eight members of their 2026 draft class.
Chargers Sign No. 105 Pick
Thompson joins Los Angeles after a college career that included stops at Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi State. The Chargers' official announcement focused on his 2025 breakout with the Bulldogs.
At Mississippi State, Thompson started all 13 games and caught 57 passes for an SEC-leading 1,054 yards and six touchdowns. The Chargers noted that he averaged a conference-best 18.5 yards per catch among players with at least 40 receptions.
That production came after a quieter start to his college career. The team listed Thompson with 84 catches, 1,557 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns across 30 career games with the Bulldogs, Sooners and Longhorns.
Draft Class Now Under Contract
PFR noted that Thompson's signing completes the Chargers' 2026 draft class contract work. That matters less for drama than for housekeeping, but teams prefer housekeeping done before training camp starts asking real questions.
Thompson gives the Chargers another speed option at wide receiver. PFR cited his 4.26-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, the fastest time among receivers in Indianapolis.
The depth chart already includes Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith. Thompson's first path will be earning a role in that group after being drafted in the fourth round.
