Blue Jays Add Urias For Cash
Urias did not appear in the majors for Arizona after signing in mid-March. MLBTR reported that he spent most of the season at Triple-A and hit .361/.393/.546 with a 123 wRC+ in 117 plate appearances.
The surface line gave Toronto a reason to add a right-handed infield option, even if the underlying profile is more modest. MLBTR noted Urias had a .367 batting average on balls in play at Triple-A and a 6.0 percent walk rate, indicators that the line may not fully carry over.
The official Toronto transaction log also shows the Blue Jays optioned Brendon Little and Charles McAdoo to Triple-A Buffalo on the same date while activating Daulton Varsho and Lazaro Estrada from injured lists. Urias Gets Toronto Opportunity
Urias' best major league stretch came with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2021 and 2022. MLBTR listed him at .244/.340/.426 with 39 home runs and a 111 wRC+ across 269 games over those two seasons.
The production dipped after that. Urias missed the first two months of 2023 with a strained left hamstring, was optioned by Milwaukee and later moved to the Boston Red Sox.
