Buffalo Bills safety Cole Bishop underwent an offseason scope on his left knee and expects to be ready for training camp in July, according to Pro Football Rumors, which cited ESPN reporter Alaina Getzenberg.
The injury update matters because Bishop is coming off a full-time role in the Bills' secondary and Buffalo is installing a new defensive scheme under first-year coordinator Jim Leonhard.
Bishop Missed Spring Reps After Knee Scope
PFR reported that Bishop started all 19 Bills games in 2025, including two playoff games, but did not get through the season without damage. His recovery from the knee procedure kept him from taking practice reps during spring work.
The key football detail is the timeline. Bishop indicated he expects to be back for training camp in July, per Getzenberg, giving Buffalo a target for one of its projected starting safeties before full-team work ramps up.
The Bills selected Bishop with the No. 60 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. His rookie summer was slowed by a quadriceps injury, and he still appeared in 16 games during his first pro season.
Bills Safety Group Has Changed Around Him
Bishop took on a much larger role in 2025. PFR credited him with an 91.14 percent snap share, 85 tackles, seven passes defensed and three interceptions, including a game-sealing pick in a 27-24 wild-card win at Jacksonville.
Buffalo's safety room has shifted since then. Jordan Poyer and Taylor Rapp are no longer on the roster, while the Bills re-signed Damar Hamlin, added C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Geno Stone, and drafted Jalon Kilgore in the fifth round.
That makes Bishop's July availability more than a routine rehab note. If his recovery stays on schedule, the Bills can begin training camp with one of their young defensive anchors available as Leonhard builds the back end of the defense.
