Bayern Munich stages dramatic comeback to beat Freiburg 3-2

The Pressure Shows Up Early

Bayern Munich erased a two-goal deficit in the final minutes to snatch a 3-2 victory over Freiburg on Saturday, keeping the Bundesliga title race firmly in their own hands.

Freiburg looked set for a famous upset when they led 2-0 through the 81st minute. Johan Manzambi had opened the scoring, cutting in from the left flank before firing past Manuel Neuer—who was back from injury but could only watch as the ball flew wide. The second came from a Neuer blunder, as the veteran goalkeeper palmed a corner straight to Lucas Höler, who finished from close range.

The trophy did not need much decoration; the season had already done most of the talking.

Then the young midfielders took over. Tom Bischof, the 20-year-old, pulled one back from outside the area. Four minutes later, he struck again. In the ninth minute of added time, Alphonso Davies delivered a low cross and Lennart Karl, just 18, slotted home to complete the turnaround.

The comeback spared Bayern an awkward conversation about their attack. With Harry Kane out with an ankle issue ahead of next week's Champions League quarterfinal against Real Madrid and Nicolas Jackson suspended, Serge Gnabry led the line but generated little. Michael Olise also wasted a clear chance. Bischof's intervention bought the coaching staff time to reassess before Madrid.

The Detail That Tilts It

Dortmund kept pace in the title race with a 2-0 win over Stuttgart, both goals coming in added time. Karim Adeyemi broke the deadlock before Julian Brandt sealed it on the counter.

Bayer Leverkusen survived an entertaining 6-3 thriller against Wolfsburg, climbing back from 3-1 down. Alejandro Grimaldo scored twice—now on 14 goals for the season—while Patrick Schick, Edmond Tapsoba, Ibrahim Maza and Malik Tillman also found the net. Wolfsburg remains 17th and winless since January.

Leipzig beat Werder Bremen 2-0 to stay on course for Champions League qualification, while Hoffenheim slipped to a surprise 2-1 defeat at Mainz.
