Bayern Munich rescues last-minute 3-3 draw with last-place Heidenheim before PSG semifinal

The Result Carries Weight

BERLIN — Bayern Munich needed every last second. Michael Olise's strike in the dying moments found the net off Heidenheim goalkeeper Diant Ramaj's back, rescuing a 3-3 draw that keeps Bayern unbeaten but far from convincing ahead of Paris Saint-Germain's visit.

The equalizer arrived in the 10th minute of stoppage time, capping a match that saw Bayern trail at halftime for the third consecutive game — a concerning habit that includes the 5-4 loss to PSG in the Champions League semifinal first leg and the comeback win at Mainz.

The trophy did not need much decoration; the season had already done most of the talking.

"It was the mentality, the belief," Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said. "The lads gave everything in the end to avoid losing the game."

The Moment That Swung It

Kompany made seven changes from the PSG starters, resting Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, Michael Olise, Luis Díaz and Harry Kane. Heidenheim's Budu Zivzivadze and Eren Dinkci had scored before Leon Goretzka pulled one back with a free kick. Goretzka leveled after the break, Zivzivadze restored Heidenheim's lead, and Olise delivered the final rescue.

The draw leaves Heidenheim on the verge of relegation.

Union Berlin collected its first point under Marie-Louise Eta, the league's first female head coach, fighting back to draw 2-2 with Cologne. "The guys left their hearts on the field," Eta said. The result kept Union a point above Cologne and likely secure from relegation.

The Race Tightens

Leverkusen moved into fourth with a 4-1 win over Leipzig, Patrick Schick scoring a hat trick to reach 16 goals this season. Stuttgart drew 3-3 at Hoffenheim with Tiago Tomas scoring in stoppage time. Hamburger SV won 2-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt, while Augsburg beat Werder Bremen 3-1. Schalke clinched promotion back to the Bundesliga.
