Nottingham Forest close to appointing Vitor Pereira as manager after Sean Dyche

Nottingham Forest is close to appointing Vitor Pereira as its new manager after firing Sean Dyche, according to BBC Sport's Sami Mokbel.

The Portuguese manager appears to be the man at the City Ground as Forest looks to avoid relegation.

Dyche Dismissed After Draw

Forest languishes in 17th place in the Premier League table, just three points above the drop zone. The club fired Dyche late on Wednesday, only hours after a frustrating scoreless draw with Wolves in which Forest managed 35 shots.

Fourth Manager of the Season

Pereira would become Forest's fourth manager of the season. Nuno Espirito Santo was fired in September and replaced by former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked himself in November leading to Dyche's appointment.

Pereira's Background

The 57-year-old native of Espinho, Portugal, was fired in early November by Wolves after 11 months on the job. He is widely credited with helping to keep the team in the Premier League last season.

Prior to coming to England, Pereira managed clubs all over the world including Porto, Fenerbahce, Corinthians, 1860 Munich and Olympiacos. His teams have won four league titles.
