Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Exits Early Tuesday

Alvarez was removed from Tuesday's game against the Tigers with a right knee injury.

Alvarez went 1-for-2 with an RBI double and a run Tuesday but limped off the field after taking an aggressive swing at a pitch in the sixth inning. The severity of his injury will become known after he undergoes imaging Wednesday, and if he has to miss any amount of time, Luis Torrens would be in line for extra starts at catcher.

Mets' Luis Robert: Lingering Symptoms

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Robert (back) is still experiencing lingering symptoms and "is not progressing the way we would like," according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The decision to call up A.J. Ewing earlier Tuesday was no doubt related to Robert's slow recovery from a lumbar spine disc herniation. Robert has not been cleared to resume baseball activities and appears ticketed for an extended absence. In the meantime, Ewing will get an opportunity to nail down the center-field job for the Mets.

Mets' A.J. Minter: Resuming Rehab Soon

Minter (hip/lat) is expected to resume a rehab assignment this weekend, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Minter has been out all season while recovering from lat surgery and had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment when he developed left hip discomfort. He appears to have moved past the hip issue and should be ready to rejoin the Mets' bullpen later this month if things go well.

Mets' Carson Benge: Getting Another Chance at Leadoff

Benge will start in right field and bat leadoff in Tuesday's contest versus the Tigers.

Benge hit leadoff in three straight games in mid-April, but he had been batting lower in the order since then. With a .300/.352/.500 batting line over his last 10 games, he's earning another look at the top of the lineup.
