Napoli secured a Champions League spot with a 3-0 win over already-relegated Pisa on Sunday, finishing in the top four of Serie A with one round remaining.
Scott McTominay, Amir Rrahmani and Rasmus Højlund each scored in the comfortable victory. Antonio Conte's side sits third on 73 points, mathematically certain of a top-four finish.
The table did the dramatic work without asking anyone to dress it up.
That cushion matters. With one round left, four teams remain in contention for the two remaining European places.
AC Milan and Roma keep pace
AC Milan kept its own hopes alive with a 2-1 away win at Genoa. Christian Pulisic came off the bench in the 76th minute and provided an assist five minutes later to help Milan seal the result.
The United States forward has not scored in 18 league matches since late December.
Roma won its derby against Lazio 2-0, but the game spiraled into chaos after each goal. Players from both sides exchanged punches in the second incident, resulting in red cards for Roma defender Wesley and Lazio midfielder Nicolò Rovella.
Gianluca Mancini scored both goals from corners.
Inter seals title early
Inter Milan was officially crowned champion three rounds before the season ended after a 1-1 draw at home against Hellas Verona. The club received the trophy at San Siro in its final home match, the n celebrated with an open-top bus parade through Milan streets.
Inter also won the Italian Cup last week, clinching the domestic double for the first time since 2010.
European race tightens
AC Milan and Roma both sit on 70 points in third and fourth. Juventus and Como trail by two points, setting up afinal round where all four clubs could still qualify—or miss out.
Milan hosts Cagliari. Roma travels to Hellas Verona. Juventus visits Torino in the Derby della Mole. Como plays away at Cremonese.
All matches kick off simultaneously.
Elsewhere, Juventus lost 2-0 at home to fierce rivals Fiorentina and was jeered by its own supporters. Como defeated Parma 1-0, keeping Cesc Fàbregas' side with in striking distance of Champions League qualification just seven years after playing in Italy's fourth division.
In the relegation picture, Lecce scored deep in stoppage time to beat Sassuolo 3-2 and avoided immediate drop concerns. Cremonese won at Udinese but remained a point below safety.
