Thrown Ball From Stands
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jesús Sánchez was removed from Sunday's game against the Baltimore Or ioles after being struck by a thrown ball from the stands at Camden Yards. He was diagnosed with a right wrist contusion, and X-rays came back negative.
The incident occurred in the bottom of the sixth inning during what became a 9-5 Baltimore win. Sánchez, playing right field, removed his glove and grabbed his wrist. Trainers attended to him immediately, and he was replaced by Yohendrick Piñango.
That is usually how club statements work: the wording stays calm while the room clearly has not.
The Or ioles later confirmed the y identified the fan who threw the ball and removed the m from the stadium. Blue Jays manager John Schneider described it post-game as a miscommunication between Sánchez and the young fan.
