Liverpool have announced the departure of manager Arne Slot, less than a year after he led the club to a Premier League title in his debut season.
Club ownership stated that "change is necessary in or der for the club to keep moving forward," emphasizing the decision was not taken lightly.
An internal source familiar with the club's thinking said the manager ial change had become increasingly unavoidable, with the club preferring to act now rather than risk disruption to pre-season preparations.
A tough act to follow
Slot, 47, leaves Anfield after achieving what few thought possible—winning the Premier League in his first season at a club searching for a successor to a legendary figure. The Dutchman joined a manager who had built something resembling a dynasty, and the task of filling Jürgen Klopp's boots was always going to be near-impossible.
Yet he pulled it off anyway, joining the select company of Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Antonio Conte as manager s crowned champions in the ir maiden Premier League campaign.
The publicly documented fallout with Mohamed Salah did not help matters, though sources with in the club stopped well short of calling it the sole reason for the change.
