Ligue 1 leader PSG drops points in draw with Lorient before title rival Lens goes

Defending champion Paris Saint‑Germain was pegged back to a 2‑2 draw at home by Lorient on Saturday, leaving Luis Enrique’s side still ahead but without the maximum three points.

PSG 2–2 Lorient

Teenage striker Ibrahim Mbaye opened the scoring in the sixth minute after Lorient goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo spilled a cross into his path. Six minutes later, Pablo Pagis converted a neat volley to level the match. Warren Zaïre‑Emery restored the lead with a deflected 20‑meter effort in the 62nd minute, but substitute Aiyegun Tosin capitalised on a mis‑pass from debutant Pierre Mounguengue and slotted home in the 77th minute to share the points.

Coach Luis Enrique had rotated his squad, giving a rest to goalkeeper Matvei Safonov, midfielder Vitinha and defender Nuno Mendes ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League semi‑final return leg in Germany. Ousmane Dembélé, João Neves and Zaïre‑Emery were on the bench.

Lens 1–1 Nice

In the later game, Lens took the lead when Allan Saint‑Maximin beat his former club with a composed finish after a fine through ball from Adrien Thomasson in the 61st minute. The visitors’ hopes of cutting PSG’s lead to four points evaporated when defender Saud Abdulhamid was sent off in the 81st minute, allowing Nice to pull level via Ali Abdi’s conversion of Sofiane Diop’s deflected free‑kick.

The gap remains six points with three rounds left; Lens still hosts PSG on May 13.

Marseille slump continues

Marseille’s turbulent campaign deepened with a 3‑0 loss at Nantes – their fourth defeat in six matches – damaging hopes of finishing in the top three that guarantee Champions League qualification. The loss dropped OM to seventh place after Monaco beat last‑placed Metz 2‑1.

Monaco fielded Paul Pogba for his first league start since 2023, lasting an hour before being substituted. Goals from American forward Folarin Balogun and former Barcelona prodigy Ansu Fati sealed the win. Nantes’ attacking trio of Ignatius Ganago, former Marseille winger Rémy Cabella and Matthis Abline all found the net.
