PARIS — Paris Saint-Germain reclaimed the Ligue 1 summit on Saturday following a dramatic twist in the title race.
PSG secured a 3-0 victory over bottom-placed Metz at Parc des Princes, with Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola and Goncalo Ramos finding the net. The win lifts the capital club two points clear of Lens with 11 matches remaining.
PSG's resurgence was aided by Monaco's stunning 3-2 comeback win over previously leaders Lens earlier in the day. Lens had overtaken PSG at the top the previous weekend after thrashing promoted Paris FC 5-0, while PSG suffered a 3-1 defeat at Rennes.
However, Lens' time at the summit proved short-lived. The northern side squandered a two-goal advantage against Metz, conceding three times after the hour mark to miss the chance to pull further clear.
Monaco's fightback began when Odsonne Édouard opened the scoring with a volley. Florian Thauvin capitalized on a rebound after Monaco goalkeeper Philipp Köhn parried a deflected effort early in the second half.
Folarin Balogun leveled against the run of play in the 62nd minute before Denis Zakaria equalized in the 70th. Ansu Fati then exploited another defensiveerror to complete the turnaround two minutes later.
The result capped a remarkable week for Monaco, who had fallen behind 2-0 to PSG in Tuesday's Champions League playoff first leg before narrowly losing 3-2.
Against Metz, Doué broke the deadlock after just two minutes, profiting from Warren Zaïre-Emery's ball over the top. Ramos then setup Barcola's header before the break as PSG coast to victory.
TheParisians appeared to manage their efforts with one eye on Wednesday's return leg against Monaco in Paris. Thewinner will face either Barcelona or Chelsea in the round of 16.
In other action, Argentine teenager Julián Vignolo scored late as mid-table Toulouse salvaged a 1-1 draw against promoted Paris FC.
