Canada unveils its FIFA World Cup

Canada Soccer has officially selected a 26-player roster for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, mixing youthful talent with experienced internationals.

Roster composition and group stage opponents

Manager Jesse Marsch will lead a squad featuring 13 players who participated in Canada's most recent World Cup appearance in Qatar. The team will face Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, and Switzerland in Group B.

Their campaign begins on June 12 against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium. The squad will then travel to Vancouver for the remaining two group-stage matches: Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24.

Goalkeeping competition

Three goalkeepers made the final roster. Maxime Crépeau of Orlando City, Owen Goodman (on loan from Crystal Palace to Barnsley), and Dayne St. Clair of Inter Miami will compete for the starting position. They will split duties in a June 1 friendly against Uzbekistan in Edmonton before the full match against Ireland in Montreal on June 5.

Injury updates and defensive selections

Despite several injury concerns, key players passed late fitness tests. Centre-backs Moïse Bombito of Nice and Alfie Jones of Middlesbrough had limited club action since October and December respectively but are cleared to play.

The defensive lineup includes Alphonso Davies, who injured his hamstring in early May during Bayern Munich's Champions League semifinal against Paris Saint-Germain. Team officials indicated he would likely miss the opening match but the timeline remained uncertain.

Promise David's availability was confirmed after recovering ahead of schedule from hip surgery in February.
