MILAN — Inter Milan could clinch the Serie A championship before kicking a ball against Parma on Sunday.
Cristian Chivu's side holds a 10-point lead over second-placed Napoli and a 12-point advantage over AC Milan, with four matches left in the season.
A home victory at San Siro on Sunday night would seal the title. Even a draw might suffice depending on how Napoli and Milan fare in their respective fixtures.
Inter would also claim the championship if Napoli loses toChampions League-chasing Como on Saturday and Milan fails to defeat Sassuolo hours before Inter kicks off.
"I know what players go through and what it means to play for Inter," said Chivu, who was part of Inter's historic treble-winning squad in 2010. "The boys embraced everything we asked. We've had a strong season with 25 wins, 80 league goals and over 100 total."
The match would mark Chivu's first managerial trophy. The former defender previously managed just 13 games for Parma at the end of last season.
Inter can complete a league and cup double by beating Lazio in the Italian Cup final on May 13.
