An emotional final day of the Premier League season saw West Ham condemned to relegation while Tottenham secured survival.
West Ham's Drop Confirmed
West Ham beat Leeds 3-0 but that wasn't enough to avoid relegation. Fourth-to-last Tottenham also won, beating Everton 1-0 at home to stay two points clear of their London rivals.
The Hammers' 14-year stay in the Premier League is over. Despite a victory at Elland Road, they finished below the dotted line on a dramatic final day.
"We shouldn't be in the position we're in but we've found ourselves in it and we've not done enough to stay up," West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen said. "Hurt is the only thing."
Tottenham's Great Escape
Tottenham, which won three of its last five games under recently hired coach Roberto De Zerbi, will be in the top division for a 49th straight season.
Joao Palhinha scored the winner against Everton in the 43rd minute, forcing in a rebound after initially heading against the post.
"After a bad season like this one, we showed up as a collective and had amazing support from the fans," Palhinha said.
"The club will grow up with this experience and come back stronger."
Guardiola's Emotional Farewell
Pep Guardiola's decade-long tenure at Manchester City ended with a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa. The manager wept on the sideline as key player Bernardo Silva left the field.
Guardiola's reign included six Premier League titles among 17 major trophies. Players and staff gave him a guard of honor after the match.
Arsenal Claim Title
Arsenal clinched the title in midweek, closing their first championship-winning campaign since 2004 with a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.
The players received the trophy about an hour after fulltime at Selhurst Park, with coach Mikel Arteta and the team wearing jerseys with "Champions 2026" on the back.
European Qualification
Bournemouth and Sunderland finished sixth and seventh to earn Europa League spots. Brighton finished eighth to reach the Conference League.
Sunderland, which beat Chelsea 2-1, will be in Europe for the first time in 53 years—a remarkable achievement for a team in its first season back in the top division.
Brighton lost 3-0 at home to Manchester United, with Bruno Fernandes scoring and setting a record 21st assist this season.
Chelsea missed out on European competition entirely after finishing 10th—10 months after winning the Club World Cup.
West Ham's History
This marks West Ham's third Premier League relegation, joining 2003 and 2011.
The team now plays home matches in the 68,000-capacity Olympic Stadium. That arena will host Championship games against the likes of Wrexham, Wolves, andBurnley next season.
"This club deserves to be in the Premier League," Bowen said. "Our aim now is to get this club back into the Premier League."
Bowen scored and set up a goal against Leeds in his final appearance this season.
