Inter Miami Forward Accidentally Confirms Casemiro Is Coming to Join Him in Florida

Telasco Segovia has inadvertently confirmed that Casemiro is set to join Inter Miami, revealing during a press conference: "I know Casemiro is coming—he's a great player."

The Manchester United midfielder has enjoyed a remarkable career resurgence at Old Trafford this season after struggling during the 2023–24 campaign. The 34-year-old Brazilian has returned to the form that helped him win five Champions League titles with Real Madrid.

United fans and several players have publicly appealed for "one more year" of his services, but those pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Casemiro is heading to MLS as a free agent, with reports suggesting he will sign with Inter Miami.

"If he does come, he's more than welcome; he'll bring a lot to the team, and I think he's going to give us so much," Segovia added in a half-hearted attempt to walk back his comments.

Recent reports have described Miami as on the cusp of securing Casemiro's agreement after outmaneuvering rivals LA Galaxy, who saw multiple contract offers rebuffed by the in-demand Brazilian.

When Could Casemiro Make His Inter Miami Debut?

Like all MLS clubs, Inter Miami will take a break during the World Cup. After their final match before the break, the Herons won't return to action until July 22 when Chicago Fire come to town.

Should Brazil make it all the way to the World Cup final on July 19, it's unlikely Casemiro will be available for that visit from the Fire. The veteran midfielder has been given a reprieve for United's final Premier League game to best prepare for the upcoming tournament, which is expected to be his last World Cup for Brazil.

Following Sergio Busquets' retirement, the reigning MLS Cup champions have struggled defensively. Miami have conceded a division-high eight goals from fast breaks in just 14 league games this year. Casemiro's primary objective will be toshore up that leaky center.
