Angels' Jose Soriano Takes Fourth Loss, Allows Three Runs in Defeat to Tigers

Soriano (6-4) took the loss Wednesday against Detroit, allowing three runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out four.

The 27-year-old right-hander labored Wednesday, needing 105 pitches (61 strikes) to complete five frames while walking at least three batters for the seventh time this season.

Soriano came crashing back to earth following an amazing start to the year that saw him post a 0.24 ERA through six outings. He now has a 5.35 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across his last 33.2 innings (six starts).

Overall, he carries a 2.65 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 78:31 K:BB over 71.1 innings pitched.

Other Angels Transactions

Donovan Walton: Will start at third base and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Tigers. The Angels will include Walton in the lineup for the fourth time in five games since being called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. With Nolan Schanuel (ankle) moved to the injured list, Walton could see regular playing time at third base.

Matthew Lugo: Designated for assignment Wednesday. The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Nick Madrigal. Lugo spent most of this season at Double-A Rocket City, slashing .258/.382/.406 with three home runs, 11 steals and a 23:40 BB:K over 39 games.
