Inter Milan Could Claim Serie A Title Before Sunday Match With Help From Rivals

Inter Milan is on the verge of securing the Serie A title before even taking the field against Parma on Sunday.

The Nerazzurri hold a commanding 10-point lead over second-placed Napoli and 12 points over AC Milan, with four rounds remaining in the season.

Title Scenarios

A home win on Sunday night would guarantee Inter the trophy. Even a point could suffice depending on how Napoli and Milan fare in their respective matches.

However, Inter could claim the title even earlier if Napoli loses at Champions League-chasing Como on Saturday, combined with Milan failing to beat Sassuolo approximately four hours before Inter kicks off at San Siro.

Chivu's First Trophy Opportunity

It would mark a first managerial trophy for Cristian Chivu, who took over Inter this season after previously managing just 13 matches in charge of Parma.

Chivu said: "I know what players go through, how they experience these situations and what it means to play for Inter. You have to embrace them, always tell the truth and remain consistent without abandoning your ideas."

"I've been fortunate because these boys bought into it straight away. We've had a strong season: 25 wins, 80 league goals and more than 100 in total. That's not easy to achieve, and the credit goes to them."

Inter could also complete a league and cup double as they face Lazio in the Italian Cup final on May 13.

Champions League Race Heating Up

Behind Inter, the battle for the remaining three Champions League qualifying spots is intensifying.

Fourth-placed Juventus sits just three points above Como and Roma. Juve also trails third-placed Milan by only three points.

Juve hosts relegation-threatened Hellas Verona on Sunday, while Roma welcomes Fiorentina on Monday.

Relegation Battle

Pisa will be mathematically relegated if it fails to beat Lecce, which currently occupies the last safety position in Serie A.

Cremonese sits just one point below Lecce and hosts Lazio on Monday. Verona remains in the relegation zone, 10 points adrift of Lecce.

Player Records

Inter midfielder Federico Dimarco Set New Serie A Record with 18 assists this campaign.

Teammate Lautaro Martínez is expected to return from a calf injury that saw him miss eight of the past nine league matches. He scored twice in under an hour against Roma in his most recent appearance.

Injury News

Milan midfielder Luka Modric will miss the final four rounds after breaking his cheekbone against Juventus last weekend.

The Croatia captain underwent surgery on Monday and faces a race to recover for the World Cup.

Refereeing Investigation

Italian soccer is being rocked by another refereeing scandal.

Gianluca Rocchi, head of referees in Serie A and Serie B, has been placed under criminal investigation for alleged sports fraud. VAR supervisor Andrea Gervasoni is also under investigation.

It is alleged that Rocchi influenced VAR decisions and assigned referees favored by Inter for some games during the 2024-25 season.

No players or directors from Inter or any other Serie A club have been implicated in the investigation.
