Lens Slipped in Derby du Nord Defeat, PSG Titled After Match Halted Due to Fan Chants

Lille claimed a 3-0 victory over bitter rivals Lens in the Derby du Nord on Saturday, extending their advantage in the Ligue 1 title race while the match was temporarily halted due to discriminatory chanting.

The game was stopped in the 35th minute after the announcer at Stade Pierre-Mauroy urged Lille fans to cease insulting their opponents. The referee threatened to abandon the match entirely if the abuse continued.

First Half Drama

Hákón Haraldsson gave Lille the lead just before halftime, finishing a rapid counterattack initiated by captain Aïssa Mandi's pinpoint long pass. Fernández-Pardo broke down the left flank before slipping the ball between two defenders to find the unmarked Haraldsson at the far post.

Second Half Collapse

An embarrassing defensive mix-up allowed Lille to double their lead. Matthieu Udol's poor backpass was intercepted by Félix Correia after Nidal Çelik let the ball run through. The Portuguese winger outpaced goalkeeper Robin Risser and slotted into an empty net in the 50th minute.

Lens were later awarded a penalty when Ismaëlo Ganiou handled the ball inside the box. Fernández-Pardo wrongfooted Risser from the spot to seal a commanding Derby du Nord victory.

PSG in Control

A day after Paris Saint-Germain beat Toulouse 3-1 to extend their lead to four points, the champions remainideally positioned to retain their league title. PSG holds a game in hand over second-placed Lens heading into the final rounds.

Strasbourg Extend Unbeaten Run to 10 Matches

Despite missing top striker Joaquín Panichelli, Strasbourg defeated Nice 3-1 to maintain their unbeaten streak across all competitions.

Panichelli tore his right ACL during training with Argentina last week and underwent surgery on Thursday. He will miss the World Cup and possibly the start of next season. The forward leads Ligue 1 with 16 goals.

In his absence, wingers Martial Godo and Samir El-Mourabet stepped up to keep eighth-placed Strasbourg in contention for European qualification.

Strasbourg's Offensive Display

Godo struck the crossbar after 24 minutes and broke the deadlock shortly after with a header into the far corner. Midfielders Julio Enciso and El-Mourabet added further goals before halftime, with the latter producing a stunning half-volley from outside the box to make it 3-0.

After dribbling past the Nice goalkeeper to double the lead, Enciso celebrated by wearing a jersey bearing Panichelli's name in front of the home supporters.

Captain Emanuel Emegha, set to join Chelsea next season, made his return from a four-month injury layoff in the 77th minute.

Antoine Mendy pulled one back for Nice in the 82nd minute, but the visitors suffered their 15th defeat. The sides will meet again in the French Cup semifinals on April 22.

7-Goal Thriller in Brittany

Rennes clinched a spectacular 4-3 victory away at Brest, with Esteban Lepaul scoring twice from the penalty spot including the winning goal.

Junior Dina Ebimbe also bagged a brace for Brest, but it proved insufficient as Lepaul converted the decisive penalty in the 74th minute. Goalkeeper Grégoire Coudert dove the right way but couldn't keep the strike out.

Following this result, Rennes rose to sixth place, just three points behind Lille.
