PSG beats Metz 3-0 to return to top of Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain recorded a 3-0 win against Metz on Saturday, reclaiming first place in the French league.

Desire Doue opened the scoring after just two minutes, tapping in a long ball from Warren Zaire-Emery.

Bradley Barcola headed the second shortly before halftime, converting a cross from Goncalo Ramos.

Goncalo Ramos completed the rout in the 77th minute, adding the third goal.

League standing

The victory moved PSG two points clear of Lens, with 11 rounds remaining in the season.

Monaco's win over Lens

Earlier on Saturday, Monaco stunned former leader Lens 3-2 at home, gifting PSG the chance to go top.

After Lens took an early lead through Odsonne Edouard, Monaco replied with three unanswered goals.

Folarin Balogun equalized in the 62nd minute, Denis Zakaria put Monaco ahead in the 70th, and Ansu Fati sealed the comeback two minutes later.

Champions League playoff

The first leg of PSG's Champions League knockout play-off saw Monaco beat PSG 2-0 in Paris on Tuesday.

The return leg is scheduled for Wednesday in Paris; the winner will face Barcelona or Chelsea in the round of 16.

Other result

In other Ligue 1 action, Toulouse earned a 1-1 draw with promoted Paris FC, teenage substitute Julian Vignolo scoring a late equaliser.

Background

Lens had risen to the top after a 5-0 win over promoted Paris FC last weekend, while PSG suffered a 3-1 loss at Rennes.
