Liverpool FC has reversed plans for steep ticket price increases after facing intense backlash from supporters.
Fan Protests at Anfield
Thousands of fans staged a visible protest during a recent match against Crystal Palace, holding up yellow cards displaying the message: "Caution: Anfield's Soul at Risk."
Supporters boycotted purchases of food and drinks inside the stadium to demonstrate their anger at the announced price hikes.
The club has now agreed to an inflationary rise next season, with prices frozen the following year.
"Driven by Greed"
Spirit of Shankly, the Liverpool supporters' union, condemned the original increase announcement in March, stating: "We should not be conned into thinking it is normal for prices to go up each season. This is a choice LFC are making and one that is driven by greed."
While fans acknowledged the club's success under Fenway Sports Group—including two Premier League titles and a Champions League victory—they described the price increases as "tone-deaf and worrying."
The club acknowledged that without broader progress on alternative solutions, future inflationary increases may still be required.
