Pope Leo XIV Blesses Serie A Champion Inter Milan at Vatican

Inter Milan received a papal blessing from Pope Leo XIV during a private audience at the Vatican on Saturday.

The players, staff and directors met with the pontiff before Inter’s league match against Lazio in Rome later that day.

Inter secured the Serie A title last Sunday with a 2‑0 win over Parma, clinching the championship with three rounds remaining.

Papal address

“This is undoubtedly a moment of great joy for you all, and I am delighted to share in it,” Leo said.

He congratulated the club and invited them to reflect on their journey so they could become positive role models for young people.

“Young people today truly need role models, and what you do has an impact—positive or negative—on the lives of the young,” he added.

Leo stressed the responsibility that comes with being seen as heroes by countless youngsters.

Gift presentation

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta presented Pope Leo XIV with a customized Inter shirt bearing the number 10 and the name LEONE XIV.
