Bayern Munich Secures Another Bundesliga Title After Beating Stuttgart 4-2

Bayern Munich clinched their 35th German championship on Sunday after defeating Stuttgart 4-2. The victory sealed an unassailable 15-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund with four rounds remaining in the season.

Match Report

Harry Kane scored his league-leading 32nd goal of the season after coming on as a second-half substitute. Bayern dominated an overwhelmed Stuttgart defense throughout the match.

Stuttgart took an early lead through Chris Führich in the 21st minute, but Bayern responded with a stunning six-minute spell before halftime. Raphaël Guerreiro, Nicolas Jackson, and Alphonso Davies all found the net during this dominant stretch.

Jamal Musiala created the opening for Guerreiro's tap-in in the 31st minute, then unselfishly set up Jackson for Bayern's second after a mistake from Finn Jeltsch left three attackers facing one defender. Davies completed the first-half scoring with a deflected shot four minutes later.

Spanish forward Chema scored a spectacular second goal for Stuttgart in the 88th minute, but Kane's late strike sealed the win and the title.

Championship Context

This marks Bayern's record-extending 35th German championship, including the first won in 1932. Every subsequent title came after the Bundesliga's formation in 1963.

The win broke Bayern's own Bundesliga scoring record, extending it to 109 goals this season. The previous record of 101 goals was set by Bayern's 1971-72 team featuring Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller.

Kane's goal—his 51st of the season across all competitions—further cemented his remarkable debut campaign in Germany.

Player Milestones

The 23-year-old Jamal Musiala became the second youngest Bayern player to reach 150 Bundesliga appearances, reaching the milestone just 11 days older than legendary Uli Hoeneß.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany made eight changes to the team that started against Real Madrid in the Champions League, resting Manuel Neuer, Kane, Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano, and Aleksandar Pavlović. Serge Gnabry was out with a thigh injury sustained in training.

Triple Treble Chase

The Bundesliga title is just the first piece of a potential treble for Bayern this season. The Bavarian powerhouse faces Bayer Leverkusen away in the German Cup semifinal on Wednesday, followed by a two-legged Champions League semifinal against defending champion Paris Saint-Germain.

"It's not—hopefully not—the last title," Bayern president Herbert Hainer said. "Because we'll definitely win our fourth consecutive German championship with the women, and we're in the cup final with them. And I hope that we can wrap everything up on Wednesday so that we can then travel to Berlin for the cup final."

Midfielder Joshua Kimmich reflected on the achievement: "It's very special. Especially this season, it's a very good Bundesliga season. It's not a given that you come here after the games against Madrid and then play a game like this."

Pre-Match Atmosphere

The atmosphere was muted at the start of the game. There were reports of a clash between Bayern and Stuttgart fans before the match. In a lighter moment, Bayern's players lined up wearing cockatoo T-shirts in front of the fans—a departure from the traditional beer showers that usually accompany league wins.

Other Bundesliga Results

Nadiem Amiri scored a penalty with the last kick of the game to earn Mainz a 1-1 draw at Borussia Mönchengladbach, leaving the home team just five points above the relegation zone.

Earlier, two deflected shots gave Europa League semifinalist Freiburg a 2-1 win over last-placed Heidenheim. Johan Manzambi scored with a deflected shot in the first half, and Maximilian Eggestein netted the late winner after Budu Zivzivadze had equalized.
