The 2025-26 Serie A season is winding down in Italy. Inter have clinched their 21st Serie A title, while AC Milan, Napoli, AS Roma, Atalanta, Juventus, and Como remain in contention for European tournament spots. This week's featured matchup is the Derby della Capitale between AS Roma and Lazio on Sunday.
Why five Serie A matches kick off at 6 a.m. on Sunday
Five Serie A matches have been moved to a 6 a.m. ET kickoff instead of the usual 6:30 a.m. slot. The change stems from a scheduling conflict involving the Derby della Capitale between Lazio and AS Roma.
Italian authorities in Rome requested the match be moved due to security concerns. The Stadio Olimpico shares a location with the Foro Italico, where the Italian Open tennis final will be played at 11 a.m. ET. After two schedule changes and negotiations between authorities and the league, matches were shifted earlier to avoid crowd-control issues.
Additionally, all teams still competing for Champions League qualification must play simultaneously in the final rounds. This rule prevents any single team from gaining a sporting advantage.
