Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2–1 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night to collect their first Premier League win since March 4. The Blues started strongly with an Enzo Fernández strike from distance opening the scoring.
Enzo Fernández Masterclass
Enzo Fernández was by far the best player on the pitch, dominating the final third and intelligently moving behind markers to create or finish attacks himself. The Argentine collected his 20th goal contribution of the season, eclipsing that mark for the second season in a row.
He then added the cherry on top of his world-class night when he assisted Andrey Santos's goal that gave Chelsea some breathing room in the second half.
Andrey Santos Delivers Stellar Performance
A day after being left out of Brazil's 2026 World Cup roster, Andrey Santos showed Carlo Ancelotti just what he'll be missing. He won possession back countless times in midfield and showed how astute of a passer he can be, threading passes between the lines that led to dangerous attacks.
He was rewarded for his stellar night with a goal that secured the win. Cole Palmer deserves an honorable mention as the Englishman looked back to his best for long stretches.
Chelsea Player Ratings vs. Tottenham
GK: Robert Sánchez — 7.0: Rarely tested but handled his business well, making a fine stop prior to Chelsea doubling their lead. He could do nothing to deny Richarlison but was poised under increasing pressure in the dying minutes.
RB: Josh Acheampong — 6.7: Had a couple of shaky moments with a careless turnover and letting Mathys Tel get in behind him and fire a header that hit the post. He then let Richarlison get in behind him in a similar action, leading to Spurs' goal.
CB: Wesley Fofana — 7.3: Strong defensive performance, never caught out of position and frustrated Richarlison all night. He was responsible for starting Chelsea's build-up phase and did a fine job of it.
CB: Jorrel Hato — 7.0: Fine showing from the Dutchman, stout defensively and even ventured forward on multiple occasions. A sensational sliding challenge denied James Maddison from scoring the equalizer late in the contest.
CM: Andrey Santos — 8.2: Fantastic in midfield, regularly winning the ball back to stop advances and flawless in his distribution. He then crashed the box to devastating effect, momentarily doubling Chelsea's lead.
CM: Moisés Caicedo — 7.2: A quiet night from the Ecuadorian, outshined by his midfield partner. Still, he was reliable defensively and kept things tidy.
